Rider’s Rider
Josh Rider. Growing up on the Northern end of the Central Coast through the 90s 00 era bodyboarding was in a fast growing stage. This drew alot of grommets into the sport Josh Rider and his friends were among these. Josh was a talented athlete he was one of those guys that was good at everything and also humble about it, he excelled at bodyboarding. Josh's love for the ocean seen him joining the NCCB through the 90s and into the 00's and doing quite well though the A and AA divisions. As time progressed unfortunately NCCB folded as a club. Josh continued bodyboarding not quite as much beacuse he was a committed Family man and time with them was most important thing to him. Although the passion for the boog was still there. Come 2020 and the NCCB resurrection, once Josh found out he had to be in. He was a loyal and committed member whom would show up as much as possible and support the club. One instance stands out in my mind of recent which was when Josh committed to be a sponsor for BVM 2023 even through the tough times he was having with his own health he was still thinking about supporting NCCB and the BVM. Josh Rider was a great man in all aspects of his life. He's even at rest in his Blue NCCB hoodie. That’s why this Riders Rider award means so much to NCCB and his family and friends.
The Rider’s Rider Award recognizes exceptional bodyboarding performances throughout the season, across all divisions. It’s not just about competition results, but about showcasing dedication, passion, and sportsmanship—qualities that define a true rider. This is one of the highest honors you can receive within NCCB because it is voted on by your peers, making it an award from the heart of the community.
RIP Josh Love you mate.
